Parallel Wiring & why im going to kill myself!

Im a member of the PGM website forum (dedicated to the guitars of paul gilbert) and ive managed to utterly confuse the no.1 techy there, so am here to seek advice before i kill myself with my soldering-iron!
it's very simple- all i want is an on/OFF/on 3-way toggle that can give me Series and parallel wiring with NO SOUND in the middle position (for an s.d. distortion, btw). Ive tried the schematic on this site plus the one on www.guitarelectronics.com and both give the sound of a very quiet single-coil in center position. this leads me to believe that the schematic was designed for an on/ON/on switch but DOES NOT WORK for a center-OFF as there shouldn't be any sound in middle position!!!

please sombody help here!

cheers,
Stu

This should do it. ;)

Edit: Revised image. :)

And, the "out-to-switch" can be out-to-jack, since you don't really need an output switch with this wiring.

I hope this isn't confusing, but this is the exact same thing, electrically, and might be a smidgen easier to wire:

One last edit: Just so you understand - virtually all switches work such that the contact positions are opposite the handle position. So, in either of the above diagrams, the p'up will be in seies when the handle is up. Reverse the top and bottom terminals, (or rotate the switch in its mount), to get series with the handle down. ;)
