And so I ask...Wiring a Hot Rail for series/parallel...worth it? Will the parallel sound be usable for high gain?

yes most people would say its worth it for the versitility. it gives a brighter tone thats much nicer clean and still works fine with gain

I actually have a hotrails with a series/parallel push pull. In parallel, it is much brighter, cuts through, and with the right eq, can sound somewhat like a regular telecaster bridge pickup. It still has pretty high output though, but it doesnt distort the clean channel like it does in series
