King Midas to Cheap Guitars

So I was a little worried that this pickup wouldn't sound as good as I remembered, or that it wouldn't work in this guitar.

Fears were unfounded. Absolutely crushes in this one. Dimarzio states that this pickup is like a combination of the Super Distortion and the Steve's Special, and I'd have to agree.

Hottness.

Not gonna lie. I'm probably gonna copy you eventually.

I'm still wondering if I want to try tinting different colors.. orange, blue, purple, green, etc. Probably not, I kinda like the somewhat wood-ish colors.

I do need to swap the neck on the second one in that group shot of 1-4. I've got 7 more necks here, and the Warlock body that needs to be sanded and restained, so that means I need to get one more body one of these days. :D

So which PU is it? What gives, did you hit a clearance sale on those? LOL

That's the Dimarzio/IBZ B1 from an Ibanez Prestige guitar. I had one in a Strat a year ago or so, and then found a few on eBay that were pretty cheap. Some people think of them as junk stock pickups and then swap them out for "real" Dimarzios, even though they were made in New York, same as any other Dimarzio pickup. I might stick an A8 magnet in the other one I have if I can get the stock magnet out easily enough. :)

As for the guitars, I've just been buying these up whenever I could find a deal on them. With some reshaping, it makes for a comfortable to play (for me) guitar. Since I was removing wood, it just became natural to remove the rest of the finish and stain it. The necks are pulled from the ASM1 model BC Rich, as I don't care for the 3x3 headstock or red inlays that come stock on the Avenge. The bodies end up being about half a pound lighter when I'm done, and I'm not removing that much wood. Just a LOT of paint and sealer.

is it just me, or do those 4 guitars standing up look like little dancing fairies?
