PART 2 ->Pickup Wiring "Gods" -> help please re: Wiring a 2P DPDT for P90 Dummy Coil

Hi all

Thanks to all the help before I was able to wire a P90 Dummy Coil in series as per the wiring immediatly below - crappy drawing by me - excellent wiring step-by-step by Funkfingers

Now I just want to add a switch to go from " straight normal P90 " -to- " Dummy-Coiled-P90 " so I can alternate between the two.

For this I have bought a 2P DPDT On / On Toggle - the back of which is as follows:-

So again, may I please ask:-

=> can someone please describe the wiring step-by-step for me to add this 2P DPDT On/On into my wiring as per the above existing wiring diagram ?

My sincere thanks again in advance.

Ben

Black wire from P90 and white wire from Dummy coil to terminal 3 of DPDT on/on switch. (If necessary, run an extension wire from the existing link. Insulate this connection securely.)

Run a wire from terminal 1 (or 5) to ground.

That'll be sixty US Dollars. Ker-ching!

Nope. I am several IQ points short of that - on either scale.

What I am is very old. I have made most of the mistakes that others are currently making. I merely made them many years ago.

Too humble. Very kind. Ultra helpful immense actual real and working knowledge and experience.

Thanks again.

This post is several years old but I recently used the OP's diagram with success but have an additional issue and question. Part 1 of OP's question is found here

Following the diagram, when I ground the shield wire of the P90 to the volume pot the signal is cut off and the P90 pole pieces are grounded. Disconnecting the shield wire of the p90 returns the signal - checking to see if p90 pole pieces are grounded kills the signal when connecting them using multimeter to a ground source. The guitar has the hum that becomes alleviated when I touch the strings.

If I switch to the factory wiring (white to white leads connected, p90 black to volume lug #1) a large amount of hum is introduced into the signal when the shield is grounded and is lessened when disconnected (but introduces the hum that lessens when strings touched).

Gosh, so here's my scenario now:

Scenario One (Diagram posted by OP):
P90 white lead to Volume Pot Lug#1
P90 black lead wired to Dummy Coil white lead
Dummy coil black lead and shield ground to pot
*Connecting P90 shield to ground will completely cut off signal

Scenario Two (Factory Wiring I wanted to fix due to hum):
P90 white lead to Dummy Coil White Lead
P90 black lead wired to Volume Pot Lug#1
Dummy coil black lead and shield ground to pot
*Connecting P90 shield to ground will boost hum in signal

I have all of the leads unsoldered right now and am using alligator clips to troubleshoot.

Hey Funkfingers, why are you posting as a "guest"?

I don't think he was a "guest" when he posted several years ago. I think he's just not around now.

Oh. Yes, I haven't seen posts from him recently.
