hi guys,new here,but wanted to get some advice,ideas and maybe some criticism of my parts/garage caster.
so,the pic without the pointy headstock is where it started,2006 squire affinity strat i bought off a friend,some rattle cans,generic strat neck,generic zebra buckers and killswitch,big mass block for the trem and poof,i had my first signature axe,after awhile of playing,i realized how bad the neck was lined up in the pocket and how crooked the strings were,so i got a new neck,mad mahogany and with a yellowheart fretboard,very nice,fat and chunky,which helped my playing over time,then i put in a set of dimzario diminions (KILLER PUPS) and after 2 neck humbuckers,i just wanted a simple hot rad strat so i could ONLY focus on playing,so i ditched the neck pickup and switch,went to a single tone and bridge bucker.but replaced the ceramic magnet with a alnico 8,and eventually i wanted a floyd to finally finish up the super strat vibe,which i actually finished installing yesterday,but anyway.enough details.
now,i have not router the neck pocket ever,never even messed with it except shimming it with one of those 1 degree stewmac shims,but even with that now due to the floyd,the neck is too low in the pocket,but,this guitar has always had really high action at its best,and looking at the neck pocket today with a set of calipers it seems it is about a 16th deeper than it should,and is uneven with the back sitting higher than the front,should i wood filler it,sand it,then shim it and call it a day to see of that fixes the height issue? also,i thought it was a genius idea when i first started to work on this to remove the lower corner of the pocket for the "ultra upper fret access",anyone got any kind of advice to go about putting that corned back? the joint seems week even with putting a fourth bolt into the neck just a tad bit back
