Killswitch is a lot of fun

Re: Passive Guitar Mods

My favorite so far is the Triple Shot mounting ring. One of these days, I may try a Freeway switch in something, until then, it's the Triple Shot.

Have you seen or used the Humbucker mounting ring that has the built in tuner made by shadow? Looks pretty sweet. I thought about trying one, but wanted to see if anyone had used one on for a mod yet.

Re: Passive Guitar Mods

the better way to wire a killswitch is with a normally open switch (hear me dude, i'm next to graduate as an electronic tech) then instead of interrupting your signal, wich causes ground buzz to go directli to the output, you wire the switch to short it to ground (electrically is the same as the vol pot on 0) you will achieve full silence plus is easier

Re: Passive Guitar Mods

Ok, where were you able to find a kill switch that was a NORMALLY CLOSED like that? I have looked all over the place and havent been able to find one thats Normally Closed

Ebay, there's a billion of them. I bought 2...they both sucked, but mounted easily.
I bought this one, its a plastic pin that physically moves the connections apart, works like a dream. But I had to get creative on how to mount it.... I think it was like 9 bucks?

Re: Passive Guitar Mods

I will have to ask my cousin who owns a auto audio shop to get me one. Gonna want to put one in this project I'm doing. Never have seen anything wired that way, but it makes sense.

Re: Passive Guitar Mods

Haven't tried the ring with the built in tuner. I figure I'll just leave that on the board and worst come's to worst, since I've been using tuners for years, I've kind of trained myself as to when a particular string is close, and then I can just tune the rest of them to it. Though I do hate it when the G is finicky.

G. I seem to have more trouble with either the High E or the D most of the time. Could possibly be an intonation issue. Just have to do a good run through of my guitar and check all the little stuff I guess.

Re: Passive Guitar Mods

currently down to one guitar due to medical expenses, however, with all of my strats/SSS guitars, i wire them up for master volume, master tone, and a blender knob. my favorite strat sound is bridge+neck. I also try to do the mojo-tone volume mod(i think it's a pretty standard treble bleed) on all my guitars.

Re: Passive Guitar Mods

Isn't that the ArtieToo 'Coil Swap Mod'? I've done that on a few guitars. It's even better when the PU's have unbalanced coils, as you get a different matchup which makes another sound option.

Basically, yes. Wire it one way, and its a dedicated position. Wire it the "Coil Swap Mod" and it becomes a little more flexible option.

YOU'RE REFERRING TO THE SLUTBUCKER MOD

Yes. :)

Re: Passive Guitar Mods

Diagram3c_WEB.jpg
So I found a passive mod for Treble and Bass Cuts on Premier Guitar in an article by Joe Gore (credit given where credit is due).
I want to expand on this idea and would like any input on it. Since it's got cuts for Treble and Bass, we miss Mid control. My idea is using some caps and an inductor, some sort notch filter, to control the mids.
I just don't know how I would wire up all three together. Any ideas?
Thanks!

EDIT: The switches pictured are 3 way On/On/On DPDT switches to have a bypass, little cut, and a lot of cut. I'm thinking that the same thing would be useful for the mids
