Passive Jazz Bass true singlecoils?

Is there a consensus for a favorite jazz bass pickup set for classic/hard rock? I've got an alder bodied, rosewood fretboard MIM jazz bass. The stock pickups have ceramic magnets glued to the bottom of steel slugs, and I suppose that's a cheap solution at the expense of getting the best tone...

I put some Dimarzio Model J's in the bass for a bit, and while they sound pretty good, they don't sound like a Jazz bass. I'd prefer something from SD that's a regular singlecoil set and versatile.

Cheers.

Typical sjb-1s are great but I've always wanted to try the antiquities or the custom shop Weather Report set.

The Fender AVRI '62 pair is hard to beat. The Antiquity set mentioned above is another good 'un.

Arguably, the stock MIM pickups are the least of your worries. A better bridge would help, too.
