PATB-1 'Original Parallel Axis Trembucker' in a Gibson?..

I've been thinking about this for a long time & I didn't want to hijack the other 'Trembucker' threads so...

Has anyone tried this or any Parallel Axis Trembuckers in the bridge of a SG or LP? ..How far off is/was the spacing & did/does it have a big effect on the sound/tone? ..After listening to the SD audio samples the PATB-1 sounds like what I'm after. ..I know it will sound darker in these guitars than on the SD samples, but I have a bright amp.

I have no idea... i've tried one in a charvel and it was the juiciest pickup i've ever heard...

Can you get the dimensions from off the main SD page, and compare them to that of a normal pickup?

Though, what I really want to know is the effect on the sound with the spacing being off.

Fender's and Gibson's string spacing have migrated greatly over the years. Some Fenders use humbucker spacing and some Gibsons uses Trembucker spacing. Measure the particular guitar for best results.

As for tone, the Parallel Axis Trembuckers are all great-sounding pickup. And often overlooked. I highly recommend them for an LP or SG -- assuming string spacing isn't an issue.

Were there ever non-trembucker versions of Parallel Axis humbuckers? If not then I guess they were marketed primarily for the shredders in the late 80's then.

Nope. Just Trembucker.

If not then I guess they were marketed primarily for the shredders in the late 80's then.

They were really marketed to Floyd players. And in the '80s, shredders were using Floyds. So, I guess you're right.
