PATB1 vs Tone Zone

OK all you strat/floyd users out there - who's tries these to warm up a bright axe?

I've got a used Tone Zone on the way and the PATB1 looks like a likely candidate as well...but according to duncan's measurements it means hacking up my nice cream mounting ring to make it fit. I'll do it if it's the thing.

So, anyone got a good handle on how these two heavyweights compare?
As far as EQ, clean tones...looking for a big smooth sound but some sweetness, no pickup distortion. THanks!

Re: PATB1 vs Tone Zone

i have a super distortion right now in my carvin... which still sounds too bright for me. i was thinking about getting a tonezone/air norton to replace wat ive got. let me know how the tz works out for u.

Re: PATB1 vs Tone Zone

Hope I can help you here....I have been trying for years to obtain the tone I was looking for in the bridge of my Strat. As coincidence would have it I currently have an Original Parallel Axis in the bridge. The pickup I previously had was the Tone Zone.

I did not care for the Tone Zone because despite what the website says I thought it had a bit too much treble bite for my taste. So I now have the Original P-Axis and it is probably 90% to what I perceive as a perfect tone. It is heavy sounding and dark. I have even compared my Strat side-by-side with a Les Paul Std (USA) and my Strat is darker sounding and has more sustain. By comparison the LP has more treble and slightly less output. BUT I must also add that my Strat is also equipped with the Eric Clapton Midrange Boost Circuitry.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
