Paul Gilbert FRM250MF - Interesting Wiring

Re: Paul Gilbert FRM250MF - Interesting Wiring

To get the tone to work just off 3-5 wouldn't require a super switch, but to get the various coils they have selected from 1-5 I think would require a super switch.

Re: Paul Gilbert FRM250MF - Interesting Wiring

The tone control aspect can be done with the tone wired to the neck pickup. But it needs a superswitch or other custom switch to get neck + bridge combination in centre position. Apart from that, HSH with autosplits can be done with a regular 5 way blade switch. If you have the choice its better to disconnect the tone controls from the pickups when they are not active as in a strat (unlike a Gibson).

Seeing that diagram and how it is labelled is upsetting.

I wish there was a standard/uniformity in how selector switch positions were labelled. Typically/usually with a 5 position Strat-type switch, the bridge only position is position #1 and the neck is Position #5. This diagram is opposite. It makes it difficult to communicate with others about selector positions when there is no standard.

This is much worse than the coil "split" vs coil "tap" confusion.

If pos #3 was the middle pup, then a normal 5-way would work. By having it be neck/bridge, then a SuperSwitch is required.
