Hey guys, I bought a paul stanley signature pickup which was branded washburn on the box but is actually a rebadged seymour duncan. I was wondering what duncan was this pickup based on ? Cheers. rob

Re: Paul stanley signature pickup.

I believe it is a nickel or chrome covered Duncan Distortion.

Re: Paul stanley signature pickup.

I don't know for sure about this pickup, but the Washburn Paul Stanley Signature guitars that were made at the time he was associated with the company in the late 90s had customized CC & 59 Seymour Duncan pups. Knowing KISS, "customized" CC & 59 probably meant "overwound" CC & 59. This may be an indication. I would bet this is probably a hotter CC, which would be logical given the classic 70s Kiss tone.

I believe you're correct. I remember asking this a couple of years ago when I saw one on Ebay. If I recall correctly Evan told me it was a Duncan Distortion.

I'm shocked Paul Stanley has a signature pickup. I know it's all a marketing game, but you'd think that one would have to have really distinct, desirable tone before they got their own pickup. Nothing against Paul, but he's nothing to write home about.

Are you kidding?
Not to sound like an a-hole, but, I've tried to play some of Pauls stuff. It's not that easy. "Forever" is a bitch to play, then, then try to doing it while singing. He also plays lead in "I stole your love" which the Distortion is nice and cutting for. (just my opinion)
I gotta have a ton of respect for people who can still be around making great music. Especially 30 years worth. KISS, Aerosmith, Ozzy etc... I know they use outside help to write songs too, but they gotta perform it.

Re: Paul stanley signature pickup.

i'd say a paul stanley pickup (especially something cool like a nickel covered duncan distortion- which it is) is more worthy than half the guys who have signature GUITARS! and this is coming from someone who HATES kiss!

the guy is talented. to play AND sing is not easy. and they're tunes (esp his) have and will stand the test of time.
real rock rules!
