What is it about texas tone that works well with the tone controls on the guitar? The BBQ is the same way.

I agree. Brighter, low to medium output humbuckers ( 9.5K and under ) give me more to work with. Most hot humbuckers start to sound to thick and compressed to me. I really like the Custom Custom ( 14.4K )and JB (16.6K )and some other hot humbuckers, but a pickup like the 59B is more to my tastes. Leaves more space in my tone for my own personality to come through...like my Tele! Lew
