I`ve already tried 59b and Custom and wasn`t to crazy about them, the mids the CC have scare me as does the lack of mids in the C5 but I`m not totally ruling them out . I wanna try out the either the Demon or Pearly Gates in the biridge of an Alder body , rosewood neck MIM Strat. I usually play EVH , Jake E Lee type riffs and also classic rock like ZZ Top , Zeppelin ect.... Please Help!

Thanks!

Pearly Gates if you want Killer Harmonics, and the Mids to make you stand out in a mix. The Pearly will get you noticed, you won't wash out.

Never tried the Demon.

Surprised you didn't like the 59B......it's my favorite Duncan Humbucker.

I have a PG set in my Moderne and I can go from blues to Metal with the right amp, that pickup covers a lot of ground IMO, I have never tried a Demon but it works just fine fore George! The Best thing about the PG in a high gain/Metal setting is that so far I have not been able to make it mud out!

Ditto! :) EVH did not use an overwound bridge pickup like the Custom Custom, but I do think the CC gets a great tone through a cranked Marshall and makes it easy to get a very EVH like tone. But the A2 Pearly Gates or A5 59B is probably closer to what EVH used in the early days.

I use a single 59B Trembucker in my Strat that's set up like Eddie's.

I figured I`d just dig up this semi old thread instead of starting a new one. Which pickup , the Demon or Pearly might be sound brighter in my guitar? It`s a MIM Strat(black if that matters),rosewood fretboard and 500k vol pot. I`m not sure if I`m gonna go with a tone pot.

I had a PG in the bridge on my strat and it was very bright and alot of bite. You could go up and down the frets and they all had awesome harmonixs. You will probably have to roll your tone down a little more when playing it because it is so bright.
