Hey,
We put the Gates in a Sanick LP last week and have had it onstage twice..
Soundin' Hip!
especially when we back off the volume at the guitar and finger pick.. man does it get ZZ's slick blues tone-- like right now! were very impressed.

If ya own a LP or two -- one should have some gates! LOL!

Re: Pearly Gates in A Samick LP --Soundin' hip!

Hay Jeremy,
A few guys have done wonders for me in gettin' that unique Nancy tone.. I have it now.. and for real.. if you were to call me -- even over the phone you'll be able to tell its all here and then some..
Roys pups had someting very unconventional done to them and besides the strange specs once we did that (_______) to them it was thereeeeeeeeeeeee!
FYI- I feel bad for buggin' Seymour all that time at NAMM's and all-- Trying to inlist him to help me get that NANCY tone.. not knowing loosing Roy was still to this day something that can still cause him to feel some pain from the loss of his old friend!
(Sorry Seymour and Bless your heart brother!)

anyway my friend is still calling telling me daily how much he digs the Gates and that hes glad he listened to me..
Basicially I told him the story was over at the Les Paul forum I heard that if ya own more then one LP the one shoud have Pearly Gates.. automatic no brainer! LOL!

Cheer's!
BTW... I'm OUTTA Spacey L-cy -- YIPPIE!!

The story is a shorty...

Re: Pearly Gates in A Samick LP --Soundin' hip!

Pearly's are the best in a LP. The PG Plus is pretty good in the bridge slot as well. A bit tighter and with more lows, but still has plenty of 'tude. :burnout:

Re: Pearly Gates in A Samick LP --Soundin' hip!

I'm the guy who Buck did the Pearly Gates thing with.

I'm not sure people know what a genius he is. He also did custom work on my other guitars, and without me saying anything to anyone, people would come up to me and just say things like; "Man, you got all kinds of tone."

I LOL, remember arguing with Buck about tone, pu's, etc. One day I went with his ideas, and WOW, he made it happen for me, and changed my stage sound for much the better!

Thanks Buck for all the help and advice!

I've got a reliced Tokai Les Paul and a Pearly Gates that has been sitting in its box for about three months now waiting for me to get my finger out and install it. I guess I should hurry up and stick it in there...

Re: Pearly Gates in A Samick LP --Soundin' hip!

Hay' Tokai Les pauls are HIP!! I really dig em!
A PG should really do some sweet ZZ-Top-in-- especially in that baby cause they built them like real Gibson 59's anyways-- long neck Tenon joint... etc.. enjoy!
