Just thought I'd mention a little "shoot-out" I did this morning.
I was playing Little Wing through my Deluxe Reverb and using my Fender Strat with the Antiquity Surfers.
Then I switched to my other Strat with the PGn and Custom and split them into single coils to compare the tone to my Antiquity Surfers in my other Strat.
At lower volumes of around 3 on the amp, I was surprised that the split PGn was a little louder and fuller in tone than the neck Surfer in my other guitar...and that it sounded truly excellant!
I think part of it is that I can move the PGn closer to the strings of my guitar than I can the Antiquity Surfer.
Because the polepieces in a true Strat single coil are magnets, if I move the pickup to close to the strings on the bass side, the magnetic field pulls the low E out of tune when I fret above the 12th fret.
Don't have that problem with the PGn because the magnet is under the coils and it seems like the magnetic field is not as focused or strong in a paf style humbucker.
Interesting, huh?
Anyways, I have to say that the PGn has the strongest and, IMO, "best single coil tone when split" of any neck humbucker I have ever tried.
