Pearly Gates readings

Hey guys. I just got a Pearly Gates bridge and the resistance is about 7.8k. The website states a reading of 8.3. Now, I know that temperature, moon phase, karma and such have a big influence on readings, but have you guys had similar situations? Just wondering.

Re: Pearly Gates readings

Usually the readings I've gotten were hotter than the stated rating. My '59b was 8.7k and my Custom Custom was 14.85k and I measured them both with two or three different meters.

It does fall in the 10% range of error, but I personally would never put anything lower than 8k in the bridge of a guitar unless I used a boost pedal or a fuzz box. But that's just me.

How does it sound to you? No more difference than what it reads your meter could be off by 3-5%, plus ambient temp could change it 3-4%,, if it sounds good I wouldn`t worry.

Re: Pearly Gates readings

Interestign that it sits right between the resistance of a PGn and PGb. As long as it sounds good who cares what the readings are.

Re: Pearly Gates readings

Funny, my PGB reads 8.5k (but thats within the tolerance). Sometimes it helps using a fresh battery!

Re: Pearly Gates readings

All the PGs I have measured (must be more than a dozen) were always on the "weak" side... with the exception of a PG+ (which was like 8.75K and a great bucker). The highest PG that I measured was like 8.35K. Not that it is a bad thing, yet this is the observation from my sample...

BTW I kept the low reading PGbs. They are GREAT neck HBs!

:D

FYI my meter is calibrated and all.
