Pearly Gates Tele matched with?

I'm considering a Pearly Gates Tele bridge for my ash American Telecaster with maple board.

The bridge is 6 bent steel saddles and singlecoil. The neck currently has a stock telecaster pup in it, but is routed for a humbucker. I'd like to go full-size humbucker but I don't know what matches well with the PG Tele. I have a Strat that I'm happy with, so I'm not looking to replicate that sound.

I like heavy blues rock and classic hard rock (think Black Sabbath on the latter.) I'm a fan of Richie Blackmore, Gary Moore, Toni Iommi, Alvin Lee.

I'd considered a Pearly Gates full-size neck.

Any thoughts?

Thanks much.

Early Tony Iommi used a P90, while early Blackmore (up to and including In Rock) used a vintage PAF in his 335. A 59 can do this, and it is potted, so you can suppress feedback. If feedback is part of your sound (it certainly was for Tony Iommi), an Antiquity would work, either a Antiquity P90 or Antiquity Humbucker. But the easiest, and cheapest would be a 59.

A humbucker is hard to match to single coil tele bridge. Therefore a humbucker bridge is the better choice. Look also at zhangbucker.com, he is offering special winds for neck tele humbucker.

Thank you both. I appreciate it very much.

The Pearly Gates Tele is a humbucker (single-coil sized) - that one is already purchased. I got a deal on one the night I wrote this post and snapped it up.

Thanks for the info - I'll look into the '59 as a neck pickup.

I matched my PG Tele bridge with the Duncan SM-1 mini humbucker. Beautiful all around. That or one of the other minis may do it for you. Pickguards from Warmoth. Same SM-1 you can hear on youtube in the Hot Rod Teles for reference. There are a couple of pretty good examples of the PG Tele bridge there as well.

Well, I went with the Pearly Gates neck. I listened to the '59 and didn't care much for it (given that all I had were YouTube videos, it may not be a fair example.)

Thanks for the help.
