I've got a JB Jr. in the bridge of my Strat that I've had for years and I'm finally changing all three pickups (DiMarzio Area 61' in the neck, Area 58', and Pearly Gates in the bridge). On paper, they don't seem like they are at all similar, except for the fact that they are both considered "bright", though I have never actually played a Pearly Gates.
Having the JB Jr. for awhile in my main guitar, my ears are pretty fined tuned to it, and I'm just wondering what anyone who has had experience with both of these bridge pickups thinks about the comparison between them, especially with having the knowledge that a lot of people label the PGb as either "harsh and thin" or "warm and sweet with bite"..two completely different opinions.
Your thoughts?
