Peavey 50/50 Question

Can I run a Peavey 50/50 power amp direct-out to a recording unit if there is no speaker plugged into it? According to the manual,

DIRECT OUT CHANNEL 1 (22)
Provides 600 ohm, transformer balanced signal to be used as “direct” patch into mixing consoles, tape recorders,
etc. The signal at this point has been frequency compensated for low noise operation.

Does that mean the amp won't blow up even if there is no speaker attached?:boggled:

No, it still will screw up your amp like running it without a cabinet. They just include that for recording, even though it sounds like ****.
