Peavey 5150 Owners Help Here

[WITH FULL DISTORTION]

Hails guys
i need 1 simnple METAL soundclip of the 5150 head. with enough distortion
not that EVH covers songs and riffs that i heard a LOT.
please.
can anyone help Me?

PS - I´M ABOUt to buy a 5150 head and i want to check out if it can DO Extreme Metal . cause i never played one .

There is no question that it has enough distortion. It has more distortion than any tube head I'm aware of.

The thing you might have an issue with is that a 5150 is an amp that intentionally has it's "teeth" removed. It doesn't really put out harsh tones, with spiked upper mids.

Cold, and sometimes sterile, depending on the speaker cabinet and setup? Yes.

But harsh? No.

If you want any devilish "snarl" from it, you'd best use a pickup with an upper-mid spike, and stay AWAY from the 5150 speaker cabinets.

As far as gain, sustain, and tube compression, I've never heard anything that matches it.

Of course, I sold mine, but I'm not into extreme metal, or even modern VH tunes. My only minor regret is that I never tried a low-output pickup through it, and allow the Lead channel to "breathe" a bit more. Would've been neat to try a Pearly Gates with it. Now that would've been evil!
