Peavey 5150

Re: Peavey 5150

The amp does have a fair amount of mids. The death metal guys will turn the mids almost completely off.

Most definitely has plenty of Mid-Range OMMPH to it but with the Resonance and Presence, as well as the eq knobs, you can certainly dial it in/out. It is truly a very different BEAST than the '78 JMP 50W 2x12 I had for so long. It's like having a 427 in a small early boxy Chevy Nova or Vega!!! OVERKILL!!!

Re: Peavey 5150

I was looking at my settings on my 5150 earlier today, and I just have to be a tad off from his settings. that kind of tripped me out

Re: Peavey 5150

Hey dudes, can someone give a rundown of the various 5150s and what is considered to be a better sound or build quality? There are some 5150 2x12 amps on cl locally with the black tolex and the small block 5150 logo in the middle of the faceplate. Them any good?

The 5150 2x12 combos are just a 50 watt version of the original 5150 head with a built in sealed 2x12 cab.

Snap one up, throw a pair of G12T-75s in it and enjoy.

Re: Peavey 5150

It had been a LONG while since I heard a 5150 in a band situation.

There was a great show this week-end and two of the three bands used at least one... damn I had forgotten how sweet they sound.

Re: Peavey 5150

Loving my 5150. Don't even think about the old JMP I let go any more. 5150 came to me missing 6 of the 8 corner protectors so through good old eBay I picked up metal replacements for $17.50 shipped...looks much better.

Why the hell would somebody ever take those off, anyway? To sell them on ebay?
