This little device + app is AMAZING!

I got the device for <$15. I downloaded the free app for iphone/ipad. The sounds are astoundingly good, especially for the investment. It sounded good enough with the 8 free presets that I decided to fork up the $19.99 for the paid app with LOTS more (100+) amps and effects presets. Downloading now.

It also comes with several pre-recorded backing tracks and the capability to record. We'll see if I can figure this beast out! A quick practice setup and minimal external noise=WIN!

:wow:

I'm a satisfied customer. Thanks Hartley.

Here is a short clip of a clean setting w/ reverb. This is the bridge of a song I wrote 2 years ago on Mardi Gras. I played it a few bpm slower than normal.

EDIT: :argh::arg: Looks like you don't get all the presets with the paid app. If I counted right, I added 14 settings...guess I should have read more before d/l it.

I like it alot, but they were supposed to come out with a new HD version I'm still waiting for

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

My internet is squirrelly, so I'm having difficulty d/l the full app. Still trying, and still having a blast with the free app!

Clean recording (w/verb) coming.

Gear: Parker Fly Mojo, neck pickup (Jazz)-->AMPKIT LiNK--> iPad2. I used the Verb 'n' Valve setting.

The app exports the wav file. It will upload to soundcloud, but I don't have an account there.

It looks like you can reamp from within the app as well.:cool2:

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

This is mainly what I want an iphone for, but alas, i cannot afford the data plan. Ive been due and upgrade for a year now, but my phone shall remain among the dumb verity for at least awhile longer.

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

love this app. it's capable of awesome tone with the right know-how and good speakers. i use it through my car speakers and people's home system when i dont feel like lugging around my big ass amp.

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

The more I tinker with it, the more I like it...and I haven't tweaked any settings yet.

It sounds remarkably good.

I will be getting my money's worth out of this device.

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

I've been using mine for over a year and love it if it ever breaks i'll definately by another. I'd also recommend the Positive Grid JamUp app in my opinion it's a little better than the Ampkit app.

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

I finally got an iphone, so I got the Peavey Ampkit Link interface. So, far Ive downloaded 3 of the free apps for it. Ampkit, Irig and Jamup. My intentions were initially to get the ampkit+ upgrade if I liked ithe free version enough. Then I decided to look up and see if there were free versions to try of the other 2, which there are.

I think all 3 apps were really good, though effects wise its hard to tell how good that will be in the free apps. I like me some reverb and the jamup app was the only one that came with a reverb effect pedal model that was not part of the amp. I didnt care for the built in reverb on the ampkit and irig amps.

Each app gives you 1 free amp with a couple effects. The valveking amp in ampkit was pretty decent. Im hoping the 6535 models are a bit better. I thought the marshall amp in irig was pretty good. Irig was probably the best app for navigating around the features. Surprisingly, I was able to get a pretty good metal tone from the AC30 amp and a tube screamer in the Jamup app.

What I really liked about jamup is the jam utility that allows you to import an mp3. From there you can play along, change pitch, slow down, speed up etc., which is a really cool feature. Irig had something similar but without any way to change pitch that I could tell, but you could slow down and set a loop. I didnt see anything like that in the ampkit app.

I noticed in ampkit, you can change cabs, mics and mic placement. Not sure yet about the other 2 apps yet, though in irig im pretty sure you can change cabs and mics.

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

Looks like the jamup app will loop mp3s as well.

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

If I could get a do-over, I would have downloaded effects packs instead of Ampkit+.
I did not read about it enough before purchasing.

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

I ended up buying the jamup pro app. The Jam utiliy plus the ease of manipulating the signal chain on the fly was just too good. You cant swap out cabs and mics, but the models sound good as is so its not a big deal.

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

I've been considering getting the iRig, but this looks quite interesting too. Anyone who knows how the iRig and Ampkit Link compare to each other?

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

IDK about sound, but the Peavey is less expensive. Besides, I got mine from MF for $15 on sale. I figured I couldn't lose.

I am NOT an expert, but aren't the two simply interfaces? The sound is in the apps.

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

I guess the main difference is the amplink is active and takes 2 AAA batteries. According to most reviews I read before deciding for myself, the output signal that the amplink produces is a bit stronger and makes for less noise and feedback. Cant say for sure how it compares in reality, as ive only tried the amplink. It works great with all the apps I tried it with. Ive used it for several hours and am still using the original batteries it came with.

Heres a comparison someone posted on youtube.

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

Positive Grid makes an interface also as well as apogee and line6. probably more out there as well.

The thing I dont like about the Jamup plug is it plugs directly into the phone. The amplink gives a nice bit of lead cable.

I'm a long time L6 customer, but that device costs more and also looks like it plugs in directly.

It does. Looks like the price of the interface includes the app though. Get a bit more as far as amps and effects too I guess.

32 amps, 16 stompbox and rack effects, and 16 speaker cabinets

Re: Peavey AMPKIT LiNK

I probably could navigate it quickly given my background with L6, but I really bought the Ampkit on a whim. I have no regrets. I played with it more tonight.

I tinkered with the JamUp app briefly. IDK. I really like the simplicity of the Peavey Ampkit. Recording is a breeze.
