Peavey Artist 240 Upgrade?

Didn't want to hijack the other guys thread about speakers so I'll make a new post.

I have a Peavey Artist 240 1x15 combo. It is a 120w with 4 6l6 output tubes with a SS preamp built circa 1976.

The amp sounds strong so I don't feel I need to replace the tubes and the caps are newer. Wondering if a speaker swap might be in order. From Youtube videos alone I really like the Eminence Governor. Currently it has a Eminence Legend, is there a huge difference between the two?

Most combos I've seen are 12 inch so I imagine it will have a bigger sound. Any/all advice appreciated and thanks for your time!

Scratch all of ^^^ that.

My amp is has a 4 ohm connection and that means none of those will work and anything 15 inch and 4 ohm are difficult to find. Onward goes the search.

Eminence Commonwealth 15 is 4ohm 225W, the LPS15 is 4ohm 300w Neo magnet, designed for more highs for use with Lap Steel guitar.

Re: Peavey Artist 240 Upgrade?

Seems like one could put an 8 ohm resistor in parallel to.make an eight ohm speaker look like a four

But then on a SS power section would it even matter

Might loose a bit of volume with an eight but it should take the load

Thanks Allbutromeo, that's what I found as well. Think I'll just have to leave it as it is and grab a few pedals to flavor it up.
