Peavey Classic 100 amp head???

Learning to work on my own equipment. Have a Peavey Classic 100 head, not sure how to remove faceplate without damaging it.Just need to clean the pots and check out an input jack. Will faceplate removal facilitate this? Would greatly appreciate advice. Thanks

You will have to remove the amp from the casing to get at the underneath of it to access the internal side of the pots and jacks and switches.

If you go poking around in there , make sure you have unplugged the power and know how to discharge the filter caps before you do.

That certainly explains why the faceplate doesn't budge when I take the screws out of the front. Thanks for the info. Will have to do my research on the filter caps. Discharged an a.c. cap with my arm one time. Did not feel good

Most of my amp chassis are screwed in from the top

a.c. caps have nothing on big watt tube amp filter caps, those things can go up to 500 volts with pretty ampere too, so short them to ground with a pair of screwdrivers

It is safer for the amp and the person to use a resister to ground. A 10 watt 10 ohm cement resister costs less than $2.

You'll need to first remove the back of the wood box, then there be 4 big screws on the bottom, take those out and the chassis will slip out the back. At least that is normal disassembly for any head I've worked on.

I'm sure it's the same as the Classic 50 head I had. Everything is modular and needs to be slid out from the back.
A right pain in the arse if you ask me! Great sounding amps...hard to work on.
