Peavey Classic 50 410 Speaker Question

So, I've had my 410 for about a year now and have loved it. However, I've decided I want to install some new speakers.

After doing some research, i decided I wanted to get some Celestian Greenbacks as I prefer a more british/classic rock tone.

My question is this, can I even put a G10 Greenback in my 50w 410? When I look online at the Greenbacks, it says it is power rated for 30w. Does splitting the wattage to all 4 speakers drop it enough for them to handle it?

4 x 30 = 120
That is just about the classic Times Two calculation.

K, thanks.

Never messed with speakers before. Thought that was how you calculated but didn't know for sure.

Re: Peavey Classic 50 410 Speaker Question

Years ago when those amps first came out, a friend of mine had one and wanted to do a similar speaker swap, adding Celestions (not the Greenies, though).

New speaks went in, new speaks came out....and in a hurry. Don't know about the new Classic 30/50s, but the speakers in those old amps were made specifically for that amp and voiced accordingly.

YMMV, of course--but I'd want to get a liberal return policy with the new speakers--just in case.

Good Luck! I hope it works out for you. Let us know.
