Peavey evh wolfgang special

Re: Peavey evh wolfgang special

I just got a USA wolfgang hard tail and its outstanding. Id save your money and get a used MIJ special off ebay or something. Before they moved production to china, the jap made ones were supposed to be on par with the usa made ones, just with a flat maple top

Ask ANYONE with a Jap Wolfgang Special and you'll find out about the wood shrinking issue.

Due to the unfinished wood and difference in climate, many have been complaining about neck wood shrinkage and jagged frets.

I played at least a dozen of the Japanese models and they all had this issue, and luthiers will charge you extra for a stainless steel fret dressing.

The Chinese ones are just as good/bad.

I haven't played enough of them to notice. To Fender's credit, it's more a problem with the design than it is with quality control.

If you choose not to apply finish to wood, it's going to be more sensitive to changes in climate. Going from a relatively humid part of the world like southeast Asia to arid environments found in the US causes the wood to shrink.

They are still amazing guitars, and the new pickups are incredible. Just know you'll have to put more money in for a professional setup in order to keep your palm and fingers intact over time.

*I just get pissed at the constant bashing of Chinese products when compared to Japanese stuff. The Chinese weren't stupid enough to allow one of the biggest environmental disasters to ever face the Earth occur. # Fukushima Daiichi.
If you can frak up a nuclear reactor, you can sure as hell frak up guitar building.

I never said the chinese ones were garbage, Ive read negative reviews on them due to sharp fret ends and stuff like that. Which now you say id due to word shrinkage, it totally makes sense

No worries. My sentiment wasn't directed at you, but rather internet hearsay in general.

All the big brand stuff is CNC manufactured nowadays, so it makes ZERO sense for anyone to believe one group of people make a crappier instrument than another.

I have 2 Peavey basses. One, a vintage USA model, the other a Chinese "factory second". They are both amazing, but I like the Chinese one better.
