Peavey has the new Satch Mini Colossal Amp on their site now.

Re: Peavey has the new Satch Mini Colossal Amp on their site now.

I've been waiting for more details for a couple of months. Can you tell if it has reverb on it? I can't tell from the picture and the description does not say.

Re: Peavey has the new Satch Mini Colossal Amp on their site now.

I don't know if it has reverb or not. I just posted it because I saw it and I knew some of the guys on the forum were interested in it. A Google search might yeild better results now that its been released.

Description seems pretty clear as far as features IMO and reverb isn't mentioned, though tremolo is. I'm guessing then that it has tremolo but no reverb.

Re: Peavey has the new Satch Mini Colossal Amp on their site now.

I heard it's more vintage than highgain, so it's not exactly a scaled down JSX.

Wow. I thought there were a lot more people interested in this thing. :eek13:

He referred to it in an interview as a modern "Champ" amp - something small to record with. I was pretty excited until it was priced at $599, street probably around $439; might still wait until they are in stores but am leaning towards a Crate V58 and some pedals...

I may be way off base here, but Peavey isn't known for magical tone. They make decent sounding (and some very good sounding) amps, that are very reliable and sell at a point that the masses can afford. That alone is a great reputation to have. This amp seems priced kind of high for its expected tone and minimalist feature set. I guess I'll have to hear one to see what stink is, or are they just attempting to cash in on Joe's name?

Re: Peavey has the new Satch Mini Colossal Amp on their site now.

'magical' is subjective. how magical was the 5150 when it was still around? regardless, it was a preferred amp by many in terms of high gain.

The 5150 is still around, it's just not called the 5150 anymore. It's the 6505 now.

YUP, pricey for sure, but all is not lost, as they have a cheaper all-valve 5watter out too, and the price on the site is something like $299.00, so street will probably be closer to, ermmmm $249.00 ???

MUCH CHEAPER than Crate's all-valve 5w combo !

Re: Peavey has the new Satch Mini Colossal Amp on their site now.

I'm not too impressed...

But who knows, maybe after playing it we'll find out it's the best small amp ever made... :)

Re: Peavey has the new Satch Mini Colossal Amp on their site now.

For that price, I'd expect a name brand 12" speaker.

Hell, spend a few extra bucks and get a Marshall Studio 15. It HAS magical tone. Just gotta replace the Vintage 30 for a G12H30 first... ;)

Re: Peavey has the new Satch Mini Colossal Amp on their site now.

I believe this is nearly if not the exact same thing as that new low wattage Valveking...just this has Satch's name/endorsement. Local shop has one in stock now (the VK...) I haven't bothered to try it as the regular VK combo and head did not impress me.

Peavey's best stuff, IMO is SS. They've had a few gems here and there in tube amps, but they should stick with SS..just like Randall should.

Re: Peavey has the new Satch Mini Colossal Amp on their site now.

It seems like there's definitely a gap between 50 watt combo, 100 watt stack and small high gain tube amp. Yes there are plenty of ratty sounding low wattage solid state units but I can't quite figure why there aren't more big front end and little back end recording tube amps. They always seem to go with the "vintage" angle.

I personally still like the Triple X a lot also. The majority of Peavey's amps don't have that kind of favorable regard or longevity, but are offered at much better price points. I remember when a new Triple X head was $800, now they are $1250, its not the value it used to be. Too bad for the guitar community.

Like i said, i would rather go for this one !

The ValveKing 5watter - simmilar to the JSX, but without the FX-loop and trem !

I see the site now says it is $249.00, so street will probably be, $219.00 ???

Thsi just might be the low wattage amp that we've all been waithing for ! (?)
