Re: Peavey hp

The USA made HP Special's seem very nice. Great reviews of that guitar. Don't know about the Korean version though.

Re: Peavey hp

I tried a few when they first came out. Felt nice, good balance but 'meh' overall for me. I wasn't a big fan of the Wolfgang either so that probably had something to do with it all. However, I do prefer the body shape of the HP over the Wolfgang.

Re: Peavey hp

Like Erik, the Wolfgang never felt right to me, so I haven't bothered trying the HP. Peavey makes excellent guitars, though. I wouldn't worry about the quality from them.

Re: Peavey hp

I have an HP Signature EXP, which is the Korean version, in transaparent black. I love it. Has 24 jumbo frets, and can get a nice LP like tone. Very nice.

Re: Peavey hp

Are we taling about the Wolfgang like guitar or the Hartley signature type guitar?

Myself, I didnt care for the ergonomics of the Wolfgang but, I LOVE the Hartley sig. axes! Dont worry about Peaveys quality, they are TOP notch IMO and even their import axes are by far better quality than alot of American made guitars that cost 5 times as much!

Re: Peavey hp

The HP Special is the replacement for the Wolfang and these are USA Customs Shop made only. There is no Korean version.

The HP Signature Series is a whole different machine and it does have Korean/Asian versions.

Re: Peavey hp

It's gotta be good. I loved the Wolfgangs, and this is supposed to be an improvement over them! USA Peavey's have amazing quality as well.

Re: Peavey hp

I played one of the carved top HP specials at Daddy's and it was probably the best feeling axe I have ever played. Absolutely awesome. IMO, a big improvement over the EVH, which is a great axe but I never liked the body shape. The HP is probably my favorite body shape; the balance is just flawless. I have the Korean HP Sig and it kicks, but I have to admit when you play the Special or the USA Sig you'll immediately know why it costs three times as much.
The Special's trem absolutely destroys every Floyd-style trem I've ever played, (I've yet to play an original) the neck is even better than a Warmoth, the pups rule even though that's usually the weak point on Peaveys.

Bottom line, to quote Ferris Bueller "It is soooo choice. I highly recommend one if you have the means."
