Peavey Omniac with JD Pups.

Has anyone here played the Peavey Omniac Jerry Donahue with Seymour Duncan pickups. I would like to hear what this special wiring can do.

I can give you the quick technical side, but I've never tried it because, to be honest, it doesn't appeal to me.

Basically, in one position of the 5-way, you take the bridge pup, reverse its phase, run it through a resistor to attenuate it, and then through a cap to slice off the bottom end. So you get, a slight phase cancellation of only the mids and highs. Since mids and highs don't sync that well to begin with, I assume it will be psuedo fixed-wah type of sound.

Thats all I can offer.

Thanks for that link. That was a good (long) thread. So basically what they're trying to do is make that guitar get the sounds of both a Tele and a Strat. Interesting.

I have been looking into this Peavey guitar for a while but haven't been able to try one out.

So hang on... Artie has devised the actual way to wire this thing?!?! That is unbelievably cool! This wiring scheme is like taking S-1 Switching and making it actually practical. Too cool... Where do I find one of those Uber-Switches or whatever theyre called?

WOW WOW WOW! did I say wow enough?

It was the most useful and toneful sound. The guitar is killer, the build is killer, the feel is right on the money. You can literally get HOLLOWBODY Mojo, tele vibes, R&B, and old rock n roll all in one guitar and one switching system, while still getting the OLD SCHOOL 3 barrel tele feel.

I actually sat with the designed of the guitar when he showed up at the Amp show. Cool guy, we talked about it a long time. They worked very hard with JD to get something very useful, and they succeeded.

Just for the record, I didn't "devise" it. I just made it purty.

(Maybe the "superswitch" variation.)
