Peavey Rotor

Re: Peavey Rotor

I've heard they play nicely. I've never held one myself though. I have also hear good things about the Peavey V-Type NTB series.

Re: Peavey Rotor

I have a Predator Plus EXP. OMG its a beast. Perfect neck shape, beautiful fretwork. Excellent rosewood board with the most beautiful grain. A rotor would be killer if is at all similiar. The floyd rose copies are excellent too.

I have a $500 Dean and my $200 Peavey is my main axe right now.

YJM, check out my sig. The EBMM and Wolfgang are in their cases and in the closet. I just love that Predator EXP. I have the black one. The neck is perfect and the thing was 250 bucks. It's the best thing I have played, period.

Yeah, I can't beleive the quality. I still have the stock pickups in it but it would be amazing with some duncans.

I actually ordered two of these guitars for this same reason. I like the original pups, which is rare for an inexpensive guitar like this.

On one I have the Custom Custom in the bridge (which ROCKS), and a Pearly Gates neck. In my opinion, these two pups don't go well together with what I'm after. I would like to pair it with a much smoother neck pup for high gain. The Pearly Gates is great, but it's too much Classic Rock. I would like to get that neck sound on Van Halens Righ Here Right now album through my 5150 which is a lot smoother.

Re: Peavey Rotor

Thanks for the input! Do you know if the V type is an exact replica of the vandenburgs?

They are not exact. Most of the changes are cosmetic and electronics. The neck is different as well. I believe the NTB neck is just a tad flatter and focuses on modern shredding. It has a 15inch radius fretboard. The Rotor and the V-Type NTB should have similar necks and feel.

I can't remember the specs on the original Vandenberg right now.

Re: Peavey Rotor

I once saw a yellow vandenburg in the local shop, but it looked nothing like the ones now. It was yellow and had a kahler trem. The headstock had a pointy kramer type cut, but with some crazy woodworking. What kind was that?

That was the "Vandenberg" Headstock. I believe there is a problem with the trademark and Peavey can't use it anymore. Thus the change for the current ones.

Re: Peavey Rotor

Is the Rotor EX set neck? I thought they both were. The seller of one I was looking at said it was a bolt on.. ???

Rotors are neck-through, not set-neck.
