peavey valveking speaker question?

Re: peavey valveking speaker question?

i think there's something about heater current or something which generally requires modding to get 6l6 amps to run el34s. Something like that.
6l6's are cool. Just get an early-breakup set and enjoy more "american" sounding tones that what I'm getting. el34's freakin rule but so do 6l6s.

i thought it was something more along the lines that 6l6 tubes run at a hotter bias range while el34 tubes run in a colder bias range, or vise versa. can't remember.

Re: peavey valveking speaker question?

post a new thread about it. you'll get someone who's an amp expert to either tell you what's up or ask you to do a search on your own. either way you'll get the answer.

From what I've read I'm pretty sure its more than bias though.

yea i probably should, i'll wait to do that though. i am getting way ahead of myself, asking about mods before i even have the amp:lmao:
