There was no Dual Rectifier in that clip. It does not sound like a Recto to me either.

I am not saying your tone is bad. In fact your recorded tone is pretty good. But it's definitely no Recto.

Re: Peavey Vypyr 15 - Mesa Dual Rectifier Metal

I have one of those little amps and there are some nice things in the presets

they excel at the high gain models of Peavey amps

Re: Peavey Vypyr 15 - Mesa Dual Rectifier Metal

I love my vypyr 15, it records very well. I love the xxx model with the mids maxed and the highs at zero. It takes od pedals pretty good too. Due to an unexpected amp issue with my real xxx, I actually cranked the Vypyr 15 with a drummer once and it actually worked! I was mainly playing clean or light distortion but it was unbelievable that that little amp was possibly gig worthy in an emergency.

I've got a 30W version that I cut down to a head. I use the K-Stein model on it, sounds awesome through cab IRs.

Re: Peavey Vypyr 15 - Mesa Dual Rectifier Metal

sounds good for a $99 amp!
But i think peavey really messed up, on all the vypyrs they do not offer any gain based on a marshall.
Only the Nano vypyr has a amp model for marshall(crunch 2)
and it sounds amazing, figures they would leave the best amp model out!

You talking about the VIPs that aren't released yet, or the original Vypyrs? The originals have "Plxi" and "Brit", both Marshall based. The VIPs took out the "Plxi" but still have "British". (The VIPs also eliminated the Dzl, Recto, and K-Stein models. :banghead: )

on the Nano the crunch 2 is based on a 70's arena stack(marshall no doubt) this one is def my favorite amp model so which is the same as that on the other vypyrs?
according to peavey the brit model was based on Vox?

Re: Peavey Vypyr 15 - Mesa Dual Rectifier Metal

Doesn't sound too much like a Rect to me either, but it sounds SICK ! Nice tone :) and great playing ! Good recording too :)

How were the drums made ?

Re: Peavey Vypyr 15 - Mesa Dual Rectifier Metal

A Dual Rec it ain't - I own one and would know. However, great clip, so good job. It's amazing what those little amps can do these days.

Try using a little more of an on-axis mic angle - should give you a little more high end cut which should approximate that tone a little better on recording. Cheers!

Yeah it is kind of impossible to get a $99 amp to mimic a $1500 one
it sounds good for what it is though.
