Re: Peavey Windsor Combo Amp

this looks cool... I'd be in a real daze at a NAMM show!!!!! I most likely wouldn't be able to speak for days after wards...

Re: Peavey Windsor Combo Amp

I finally got to test drive a Windsor halfstack with a Les Paul a couple weeks ago, and I even cranked it up for about a half an hour. For $399 new, that thing is a pretty cool amp. It's really good at getting the AC/DC sound, but has a bit more gain on tap. The preamp can get a little too buzzy if you overdo it, but the impressive 100W EL-34 section allows you to dial it in.

If this little combo is anything like the head, it'll be worth the money. These might be the coolest bargain tube amps in a long time.

Re: Peavey Windsor Combo Amp

I gotta a/b that with the Epi So Cal.

Amp builders are really pushing the quality/cost thing. Tone is not big $$$ right now. Very cool. In my day the best I could afford was a PV Bandit SS lol.

Re: Peavey Windsor Combo Amp

Isn't an EL-34 tube a 20-25 watt tube? I am pretty sure it will put out more than 15 watts.

Me too, let me know how you make out.

Re: Peavey Windsor Combo Amp

peavey is making some really cool stuff. I cant bring myself to love them too much becasue of how stupid the logo is. You have their vintage looking amps that all look really cool and they slap that goofy logo on the front. If i ever got a peavey, id rip the name plate off imediately.
case in point: The Windsor

You're entitled to your opinion and that's cool. But I'll tell you what my friend, take a Classic 30, put it thru a 4X12, use the right kind of pedal and I assure you the last thing you'll be thinking about is the logo. :smokin:

Re: Peavey Windsor Combo Amp

That looks cool, I always thought the winsdor series was alot more expensive, Leave it to Peavey to put out great amps and low prices, you got to love Peavey.

Re: Peavey Windsor Combo Amp

nice looking amp, probably takes pedals well too ...yummy windsor + SD twin tube clasic= tone (in my head that is ) we will have to wait and see

I really need to a/b this with the Epi So cal head

Re: Peavey Windsor Combo Amp

I tried tha windsdor at GC and it had a nasty habit of breaking up really early (real early) good sounds great for funk, rock, or blues.
