I love my XXX, and have tried the Legacy before. The XXX is a tad less open, but I find it to be more gainful and dynamic, as well as in-your-face. It just crushes.

The Carvin is more open sounding, and IMO far less forgiving of bad playing...you can hear all the hits AND all the misses as well! Both are very cool amps, and great for the money...I'd go with the Carvin. As for cabs...the Carvion sounds great with G12 25 Greenbacks...like the Carvin Cab, as for the XXX I'd get something a little more modern, maybe EV's...the bottom will better as well as the punch.
