Re: Peavy ValveKing 112: Decent tube amp?
If we're talking the original Valveking 112, it can certainly handle classic rock and blues. The speaker that comes in them is ok, but it can be swapped out pretty easy for something better. I've read that it's supposed to be based on a V30, but I'm not sure.
I have a Valveking 112 and a Blues Junior. I like the Blues Junior, but I've had issues with the tube socket tensions and the output caps failing. They're good amps, but they have reliability issues if you're going to gig with them regularly. We've had many of them come through our shop with broken knobs and tube-socket issues.
If you're talking about the Valveking II, I can't help you. Haven't played one. But I like my original one.
