basically im looking for a high gain metal type pedal. would love for it to be true-bypass, but its not a must if something has great tone. nothing to to expencive please....thanks

I'd recommend a SansAmp GT-2 if you're after the Mesa thing....I can't really help you if you're after the Marshall thing.

Try a Rocktron Rampage, I've been using one for 3 years and have been playing for over 20! It can do both the Mesa and Marshall sound by adjusting the "scoop" knob and has the most bass and volume of any pedal. They are also very inexpensive!

Depending on how High Gain you want to get, Johns mods a DS-1 to get pretty damn mean...lots of guys describe it as a JCM 800 in a box...

Tonebone Hotbritish is a good choice, but a bit pricey.

I've heard good things about the Rocktron & John's mods....

Also hearing GREAT things about the Hermida Mosferatu.....

For versatility, a TECH21 Tri AC might be nice for ya'

And for the record, I haven't tried any....I'm set with my Mesa Boogie Bottle Rocket, but I'm not a high gain guy anyway.

If and when I get a little extra dough, I'm gonna grab a Mosferatu & a Zen from Hermida. He's right down the road from me & chatting with him on line, he seems likea very cool guy. Said to bring an amp & axe on down & try them out before buying & he give a guarantee that if you don't like it, send it back for a refund (minus shipping!).

I think Fretfire or someone around here is using the Zen & Mosferatu......
