Ok so im gonna be assembling a board for a freind. Hes mainly an at home player. And couple times a month has a few guys he jams with.
I made him a flat board outta ply and carpet covered it and put raised feet on the front so it kicks up a little.
I gave him an old VS One Spot daisy chain I had. A few patch cables and Velcro.
Anyways he has a Distortion an EQ a Behringer Multi FX and a Reverb.
Now I plan to put the Distortion 1st-> EQ
Reverb should go last.
BUT...Im not sure about the Multi FX pedal. Normally Id put a delay after Distortion...but it also does phaser which I would put pre distortion.
Were should I place this for him?
He also has a Ditto looper i will put dead last.

I'm a little weird, but I would put it on the opposite side of the distortion as the reverb.

Either Multi->Dist->EQ->Rev
or Rev->Dist->EQ->Multi

most people would probably tell you Dist->EQ->Multi->Reverb

He uses it for both delays and phase.
Well he is kinda new to effects...phase and delay are the 2 effects he I know he likes. As he plays around more he may like the others too.
In which case delay chorus flange I would go post distortion.
Thats were im torn Phase is the one I( me anyway) prefer pre distortion.
Not sure on Tremolo.
Seems like the average would work best post. Its just that phaser...i know he likes my Phase 90.

In that case, I would put the multi before the reverb. I usually like phase before distortion, so it is a compromise, but it will still sound good.

thats what i was hinting at above, shaping the tone hitting the dirtbox and/or using the eq as a boost to push the dirt box can be very useful.

There is cause to have EQs both before and after distortion.

The clipping that the distortion does is highly dependent on the incoming spectrum. Especially bass control can make bug changes.

And obviously you want a EQ after distortion.

The DS-1 is pretty agnostic as to what you plug into it, especially at higher gain settings. That's just the nature of having a seasaw EQ after slamming a hard clipping stage

I usually like phaser before distortion too.

Does he use both the delay and phaser in combo with the DS-1 kicked on? If he's using the delay mostly for clean sounds and the phaser with distortion, then it would be fine to put the multiFX first.

If he's pushing a broken up amp, then the phaser will sound great after the DS-1 (the delay will be a little crunchy though).
