pedal board...order? why?

Re: pedal board...order? why?

Technically, the phaser is in the same category as a wah. I put my phaser after the wah, with nothing between them (except the tuner).

Of course, there are no hard and fast rules to any of this. Check out SRV's signal path, and you'd wonder "What was that dude thinking?!?"

Re: pedal board...order? why?

hi,

ok thanks. so basically the suggestions ive got are, put the wah at the very beiggining. put the fuzz near the beggining, put the phaser near the beginning before or after the wah.

put the tuner near the front on the chain and put the distortion octave before the deistortion? ahaha.

thi is a lot to take in but im sure it will pay off :D

Lucky for you it's not a spelling test. ;)

Re: pedal board...order? why?

yes typing fast in a hurry :D sorry about the mistakes.

so which pesals NEED to be where in the chain and for what reaons, why do the phaser, fuzz and octave pedals need to be near the front? why does the wah sound better before any others?

thanks

Re: pedal board...order? why?

Usually the sound you hear of most dirty wah tones is distortion applied to wah rather then the other way round but both are used commonly. With order those pedals don't generally give a bad sound in different orders its more when you try to distort reverb or delay (have distortion after these pedals) that it may sound bad. That said I prefer phaser after distortion for whooshy intense phase sound or before if I just wanna thicken up the distortion or warble it up.

Re: pedal board...order? why?

I like them to go....

Tweak Fuzz > Wah > DS-1 > modulation stuff (flanger, phaser, chorus) > Delay > Reverb

Re: pedal board...order? why?

just put the octave pedal before the distortion and before the fuzz and you will be fine. everything is flexible really, play around with it and see which sound you like best

Re: pedal board...order? why?

yeah it looks pretty descent.

im not worried about space for a power bank think because th 1 spot is just a smallish plug that ahs the ability to power around 24 pedals or sometihng.i tihnk the large one will fit my pedals (pedals im getting).

cry baby wah, boss delay, tweakfuzz, jekyll & hyde, phase (not sure yet), octave

Re: pedal board...order? why?

one more note on the fuzz....if it is germanium then dont use a power source. it will fry it since its reverse polarity from all the standard power packs.

use cheap dollar store 9V batteries and you will get the best sound out of it.

if its silicon based then you can plug it right in and be fine

Re: pedal board...order? why?

hi,

k in the future, how can i tell which pedals ic an use a power spource.

im not sure how it can fry the pedal??? how will i know which ones i can use with my 1spot ?

thanks

Re: pedal board...order? why?

Allow me to hijack your post for a second devilfish, I was actually going to post a thread just like this but you beat me to it.

I've been playing for awhile but was always hesitant about using effects. I always wanted the audience to hear ME play and not hiding behind a bunch of effects like I have seen other guitarists do that I've played live with. I've decided a basic pedal board wouldn't hurt.
Anyway, I want to get a basic pedal board. I have a Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor, a Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive, and a Fender PT100 floor tuner. I am eventually going to get a Boss DD-3 Delay and a Boss Chorus to complete the board.

I don't know much about pedal boards but is a Boss BCB-60 considered a decent pedal board? And if you had the pedals that I have and plan on getting how would you set them in order?
\

BCB 60 is a piece of junk. Save your money and get an SKB from GC or somewhere. My order would be Tuner>OD>Chorus>Noise Supressor>Delay

hey,

how can i tell in future whether or not to use a power supply?

will it be obvious or not?

whats 'germanium'?

thanks

I apologize for using your thread up but it seems like we're in the same boat.

Anyway, what makes the BCB 60 so bad?

Re: pedal board...order? why?

the boss smallish pedals board are moulded plastic and can only fit boss pedals (or boss clones in them.

thats why they're bad for anyone but a complete boss fanboy :D
