Pedal Boards & Velcro & rubber pads

Okay - one more post about my Boss pedals...

My pedal board uses Velcro to hold my pedals in place. The problem is, the glue on the Velcro is stronger than the glue that holds the rubber pad onto the bottom of the pedals. So if I move a pedal the rubber comes off.

I just got four Boss pedals and want to put them on my board.

Has anyone else had this problem and come up with a solution?

I'm thinking of just removing the rubber now and maybe storing it in the otherwise empty box, in case I want to sell the pedal later.

Is there a better way?

Solution for me has always been to 1st remove rubber bottom from pedal and 2nd put Velcro on the bottom. None of my pedals still have the rubber bottoms. I tried super glue etc. etc and like you said the Velcro is stronger than the rubber.

At 1st I didn't like the idea of ripping the rubber off of the bottom, but then I realized that for a guitarist a pedal is his tool much as a carpenter has a hammer. The carpenter doesn't care what his hammer looks like he just needs it to do what it was made to do. I really was overly meticulous about pedals up until recently. Now they must stick to the board so I can safely haul them around to use!!


I am open to ideas that other guys have tried that have worked.

You could also use some plastic ties on your pedals rather than velcro to keep them from moving around too much . . . but that requires that you drill some holes in your pedalboard usually.

Industrial strength velcro. Not only is the loop/hook design stronger, but so is the glue that holds it on to whatever the strips are affixed to. Get it at Home Depot.

Another thing I've seen people do that looks neat and clean as hell is to get chain links, you know they look like figure eights, and attach one hole to one corner pedal screw and put a screw into the other hole mounted to the board.

Im' talking bike chain, not regular chain!

Yeah, that's what I use and that's the problem. The glue is stronger than the glue that holds the rubber pad to the bottom of the pedal.

I say rip them off, but keep them in a place where they won't be lost.

The best glue I've ever used for rubber to metal is carpet seaming glue. It's basically industrial strength rubber cement.
