I like some of the flavors my deville dishes out through the different amounts of distortion, but I can never really nail a really gainy sound without being mushy/too fat and not enough highs. I've now used around thirteen different guitars with the amp and I've played more than just my own deville so I hope that Helps. I REALLY WANT TO HEAR ABOUT A TUBESCREAMER!, NEVER HAD/PLAYED ONE BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

The Original TS-808 is Awesome, but $$$$$$ The re-issue TS-808 is Super, right out of the Box. The Original TS-9 is great. The Re-issue TS-9 is so-so. They aren't going to give you screaming Metal Overdrive. The WILL give you a smooth, warm Overdrive...or a nice clean boost ( if ya use em for it ). I have Original 808's and TS-9's, and a re-issue 808. I would personally say get the re-issue 808. Also, Stratdeluxer97 has a mod that he does ( very inexpensive, and he does great work ) for a TS-5 Tube Screamer. PM him about it.

If he likes an overdrive that is nasal and really does not sound like tubes, it is a honky pedal.
Maybe a clean booster with some eq is better to use with the amp.

My re-issue TS-808 isn't honky or nasal. In fact, it's pretty darn close to my old original 808's. Maybe there is some variance in the sound of the re-issues, from pedal to pedal ???? I'm sure there probably is....nothing's perfect. I remember buying my original's, and I auditioned about 20 of em before deciding on the one's I finally bought.
My re-issue TS-808 isn't honky or nasal. In fact, it's pretty darn close to my old original 808's. Maybe there is some variance in the sound of the re-issues, from pedal to pedal ???? I have had all the variations from TS-808 in a smaller alucase to the heavier box ts-808 and ts-9 ts-10...ts-xxxx hehe and they are sound like a nasal can......a distinct tone they all share with minor variances, I never got the hype for those pedals, to some kind of music they are fine.....most really use them for boosting an amp, I would rather get a good eq with boost then.

He He, as you say, you ain't heard MY 808's !!!!! I guess everyone hears things a little differently, but an old TS-808 or TS-9 is music to MY ears . I will agree that the re-issue TS-9 is disappointing. It is a bit "nasal". However, the re-issue 808 that I have is pretty darn good. Not as good as my original 808's, but very decent for a re-issue.

Hehe yeah....dunno the best result I ever had with a TS was with a treblebooster added to it.
But it is not my kind of overdrive, but it is popular...so hehe

dont get one of those ibanez TS808, get a Maxon OD808, its the same damn thing, actually Maxon makes the TS808 for Ibanez if I remember correctly, minus the extra $ for the ibanez name.
