Pedal Graphics

Are pedal Graphics Today kind of like how album covers were back in the day before we had song samples, etc? I am seeing more and more pedal companies go in what looks to be that direction with their name brands, pedal names and graphics. I see it more on the Boost / Overdrive / Distortion side and if said company does reverb, delay, etc then they carry same looks over.

I will give an example of Airis Effects. Just by looking at their pedals, you have a pretty good idea of what they are about.

Any surface is an opportunity for art. Whatever surface is popular or where all the eyes are is going to get experimental and wilder.

Same here there is something about a block letter MXR that tells me it works. When I see wild art something tells me the pedal is all about the marketing. That being said I have pedals with beautiful graphics that sound great. I can take it or leave it I am only looking at my pedals for a nano-second when I am stepping on them.

Never really thought about it. I buy them because of the sound. Graphics don't matter, unless I can't see the labeling on the knobs.

Pedals are just too small for those intense graphics. They should come with a matching t-shirt for the prices.

That way I know I'm getting the right tone and good quality.

I must admit, a clean aluminum or brushed aluminum pedal that looks classic like a classic recording desk or old 500 series analog proc is what most attracts me to a pedal visually.

Of all the pedals on my pedalboard at the moment (Boss BD-2. Duncan Deja Vu Delay, Mooer E-lady, Empress Tremolo, Exotic SP Compressor, JHS PG-14, Fulltone Deja Vibe) the JHS pedal is the only one with any kind of picture at all, and it's not exactly overstated:

I wouldn't mind having some Roger Dean cover art on a pedal. Or HR Giger.
But I wouldn't buy a pedal just because of its graphics.
Or its name for that matter.
