Pedal help pls. Wah and Tube screamer

Re: Pedal help pls. Wah and Tube screamer

^ I'm totally getting a faceplate for my Marshall so it goes to 11 for those instances I need to go 1 louder. Also, don't even point at my surf green fender!

Re: Pedal help pls. Wah and Tube screamer

Why stop at 11 when you can go to 20? :chairfall

Practice. No amount of obsessing over the guts in a wah can make up for knowing how to make one sound good with your foot.

But to answer the question - open up the wah, loosen the tensioner, and set the pot where you like your high end to be in the toe down position. Then, use your Green Rhino.

Most likely solved with no additional money spent.

I sort of agree and sort of disagree...

Most modern wah pedals plain out sound like poop these days and no amount of good wah foot can fix that.

I don't agree with the statement about not being able to tweak a wah or tweaking the "guts"...The wah "always" benefits from getting the right components in place.

It is nice to know how to use a wah...Agree.. ;o)

Re: Pedal help pls. Wah and Tube screamer

I like my jerry cantrell wah, I use it in my new song "trial of fire"

I would get the black arts "black forest" pedal if I was in the market for a dirt pedal...I like my ratII proco tho...

Re: Pedal help pls. Wah and Tube screamer

Matt (ratherdashing) did an 808 mod on my TS7 and it sounds great. Best TS I've ever used. It has however been replaced (for now) with an MXR Classic OD...

Re: Pedal help pls. Wah and Tube screamer

You have a Splawn. Why on Earth do you want a Tube Scramer for?!

LOL! the splawn needs tubes and dont get to use it much. This would be for my others.. OR See below!

Why to go to 11 of course!

Yep yep!

Yeah, I KNOW most of it is cuz Ive NO friggin clue how to properly use one.

If I try to adjust the pot. is there a rule of thumb as to what direction I turn it, AND, do I roll it just a couple of teeth? (gears)

I hear good things about the Cantrell. Ive heard that one and I think the Buddy guy are tuned lower.

I think the slash is tuned lower too.. correct? I assume the "new" slash wah is the same as the old? I Liked the shiny red of the old one better than the worn look of the new..

I was hoping Ratherdashing would chime in. Im thinking the pedals he build has a 808 circuit, but dont think he used the chip..?

How is the Jerry Cantrell pedal different?

Re: Pedal help pls. Wah and Tube screamer

Not sure if this was covered, but if you're worried about the op-amp chip in your tube screamer, you owe it to yourself to watch this video:

Re: Pedal help pls. Wah and Tube screamer

Maxon OD808...$150 new (has the chip you're after...made the original TS for Ibanez)
MXR Custom Badass Modified OD...$100 new (quite tweakable)
MXR Wylde OD...$100ish new (my personal fav)
Fulltone Fulldrive 2 or the OCD
Of course if I had a Splawn...no need for any of these :)

Dunlop CAE Wah
Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah (expensive I know, but how cool is it to have Jimi, Wacked and Shaft settings?! Aren't those the instant settings we all want anyway? ;) )
Dunlop Zakk Wylde Wah (has less of a sweep range, no shrill highs)

Those are MY picks (and I'm no pro...just based on MY ears) :)

Great clip however in ways misleading...I do think that the op amp does make a difference but I wouldn't buy a TS clone simply based on the op amp it used.

It depends on the wah. First, listen to it with the toe down, and determine if it's too trebley, or if you'd like to get more high end scream out of it. Move it back or forward a notch or two. It's basically just shifting the EQ one way or the other.

You might avoid buying a new wah, just by voicing yours the way you like it.
