hey guys,

please recommend me a chorus, phaser and a delay that sounds as close as analog as possible.

will appreciate if we can keep things in the non-boutique range. don't have too much money to spent.

cheers!
dani

p.s. do pm me if you have any of the above for sale.

Ibanez AD-9 Delay
Electro-Harmonix Clone factory/Small Clone/Stereo Polychorus (Chorus)
Electro-Harmonix Small Stone/Nano Stone/Stereo Polyphase (Phase)

Try some of these, not to pricey, good stuff.

Re: pedal idiot. help needed.

are the ehx nano series any good? i heard /read they are crap.

Re: pedal idiot. help needed.

The MXR phaser is a good pedal. The price is a little high but still in the normal price range. Go for the one knob older version (it's better).
I like the Marshall chorus pedal - SuperVibe... It's on the Vibe side of things but still a chorus.
The Carl Martin Delayla delay pedal is the best delay I played, but I'm really not a fan of delay pedals...

Re: pedal idiot. help needed.

Argh do not say friggin' delayla...it will finally meet its end this season...and man have I waited long for that:D
Fetch some old CS-9 Ibanez chorus, analouge all the way.
Or the old RC-99 Ibanez chorus, also analouge.
Yeah and some old Ibanez AD-9 if you can live with 300-400ms of delay only...also analouge, should not be so expensive as its Boss cousin the DM-2, all used of course.

Re: pedal idiot. help needed.

I'm gonna jump in for the Rocktron Short Timer Delay($70 new).It is modelled after vintage lo-fi analog delays...it does upto 400ms of delay. It can be had for under $40 used.

Re: pedal idiot. help needed.

I actually liked the Delayla more then most delay pedals I've played. It's less harsh IMO. I guess that boutique echo pedals should work better... but delay is one effect that I never seriously considerd as an option in my rig...

I read good reviews about the Ibanez echo/delay pedal. But I can't remmember if I've tried it...

Re: pedal idiot. help needed.

I'd recommend E-H pedals (small clone, small stone) as they sound very full and lush. Boss used to make a couple of analogue delay pedals, as did Maxon . . . but they're all way too expensive to get now. You would probably be able to get a similar sound using a line 6 delay modeler.

Re: pedal idiot. help needed.

thanks bros! keep 'em comin!

anyone a/b-ed the nano stone/clone with the small stone/clone?

i've read about maxon/ibby ad-9s. the current ibby ad-9 reissues don't sound as good as the originals and the originals cost an arm and leg.

anyways, i will be heading to tokyo end of the month for a couple of days and there are used maxon pt-9 pro, cs-9 pro and ad-9. should i be looking at these?

Re: pedal idiot. help needed.

I went with it. I got myself the CS-9 reissue, I am loving it, it has amzing flexibility and control, its a stereo pedal so it has two output jacks that out put slightly different signal combined with the two knobs of Width and Depth which give you so many different options by tweaking them to different levels for each, those two jacks give you two versions of each setting of Width and Depth knobs. I am not gonna say it outloud but .... on the cleans this baby does the echoplex thing of "Catch the Rainbow" Dude, it really does. On my dirty channel it gives really nice growl of G and B strings double stops old Priest style.

Actually they are really good, they sound great! I believe they are true bypass as well, if that's an issue. Small, affordable and great sound, I'd go with them if I was on a budget.

Cheers,

CJ

Re: pedal idiot. help needed.

I'm gonna ignore the price / boutique thing (since you didn't give a price!) and ther analog deal and just shoot straight from the hip:

Boss Super Chorus - A classic
MXR Phase 90 - swirly goodness
Ibanez AD-9 - The standard

These are all reissue sorts, not the "originals" Still, they all are reasonably priced, and sound great. That little lineup would be awesome in anyones signal path.
