when its in my chain, the signal passes through fine, but when i turn it on it cuts off the signal. the LED goes on, it has power and everything but nothing passes through it.

did i maybe jump two connections that shouldnt be connected?

Re: pedal mod diagnostics HELP

It might be helpful to know what you were trying to do when you whipped out the soldering iron.

Re: pedal mod diagnostics HELP

you mean i should have known what i was doing? or you need to know to help diagnose the problem?

generally i know what im doing, i modded my 3 boss pedals no problem. if it helps, i was doing the monte allums ts9 mod

The latter. There are a number of issues that can cause the symptoms you describe. Telling us what you were tweaking would help narrow it down.

Re: pedal mod diagnostics HELP

Assuming that you already carefully inspected the solder joints on the other side of the board for any cold joints or places that a weld may have touched something it shouldnt have.....

I offer no help whatso ever

good luck!

Re: pedal mod diagnostics HELP

lol, what does a cold joint look like? any telling characteristics?

Re: pedal mod diagnostics HELP

Did you point those tantalums the right way???
(who uses tantalum caps in od's??)
And is the OP-Amp firmly socketed?
P'S got any pics of that pedal after the mod, preferly from the solder side!

Re: pedal mod diagnostics HELP

im thinking cold solder was the problem. i modded both my ts9s at once and i just got one of them working by redoing some solder joins. hopefully this is problem with the other one too. Thanks guys
