are we limited to "in front of the amp"? ... or can we suggest "in the loop"?
if they all have to be up front, i'd say
wah first - just cause it's a funky tone control like on your guitar
compressor next (sets the level expected to go thru the rest of the chain)
tube screamer next (if you want to effect a dirty signal, get the dirty signal first)
delay next - get the number of repeats of the raw signal you want, then cheese it up
chorus/phaser/flanger next 3 in any order you want
volume last - get the signal the way you want it first, determine its level last

Volume, Compressor, Wah, Phaser, Tubescreamer, Flanger, Chorus and Delay. Although I'd put the last 3 in the FX loop.
I think the volume needs to be at the front, cos that would be altering the overall level presented to the other pedals. Then the compressor for similar reasons. The wah and phaser could be swapped but, I prefer wah'ing stuff, rather than having stuff wah'ed! I consider these elements as pre pre-amp tone shapers.
Then through the tubescreamer, for extra grunt to the amp, and the remainder in the loop, as I prefer modulation and delay after the amps pre-amp.

I'd pretty much keep the same order if it went straight into the front of an amp too.

yeah, i like all time based effects in the loop (phase/flange/delay) also ...
i see your point about volume, but i prefer to use the guitar's volume pot for that ... i actually put my volume pedal in the loop as well, get my tone in the preamp and just control how much goes to the powe ramp - then again, remember i use a solid state power amp so i am not going for any tube distortion there, just clean 'heavy lifting' ...

Yeah, that makes sense. I actually use my guitar volume quite extensively, so I probably wouldn't have much use for a volume, unless I placed it after a tuner.

This is the way I would do it. If you don't use the effect loop, you can keep the same order. Most people like to place chorus before delay, but I like it after, especially if there are other modulation effects there. For the most part, I alternated chorus, flanger, and phaser with other effects.

Yep. I did it that way. I use the Dynacomp as more of a clean boost. Placed first in the chain, I'm losing the boost. It compresses fine, but the boost is lost. I'm not sure why.
