Pedal recommendations...

Re: Pedal recommendations...

Chorus - EHX Small Clone. I love this pedal. Very thick and lush. I'll be replacing it with an Analogman Clone Chorus in the new year however, as I want the stereo option they offer.

Delay - I use a DD-20. 4 presets, plus another manual setting, 23 second looping, tap tempo.....what more could one need?

Wah - I don't like wahs.

OD - I use a TS-9 for leads, and an MXR Wylde OD for rhythm.

The DD-6 is very interesting, as is the Keely DS-1 Ultra mod.

Did you get a TU2 or something else? Those TU2s are GREAT! Super accurate, surrogate power, gotta love 'em.

I find the DD6 to be a lot warmer than the DD3 or 5. My ears tell me they definitely tweaked something in the repeat circuits to preserve the tone.

I have a Keeley DS1 Ultra for sale in the trading post... :D

Re: Pedal recommendations...

I snagged a TU-2 :). I got a powered pedal board, the TU-2, and a CH-1 one today for a grand total of about $125 :). Not a bad day on Ebay.

Going to look at your Ultra sale thread now...

Re: Pedal recommendations...

You should try out the Voodoo Labs line of pedals. I like them a lot. they sound great and have true bypass switching, if that matters to you. I also like Morley wah pedals. The pots don't get scratchy, cause they don't have any. The auto switch function works great, less to worry about during a difficult song. They also are reliable and supposedly have the best customer service of all the non-boutique pedal companies.
I also recommend Boss for delay pedals.

Re: Pedal recommendations...

I've heard many complaints about the tonality of the Morley Bad Horsie wah, but on the other side of the coin I've heard great things about their Tremonti wah. Any comments to confirm/dissipate these "rumors"? ;)

Re: Pedal recommendations...

As far as Boss delays, I've pretty much decided on the DD-6. BUT, I really don't need to spend any more cash on gear until next year, with the recent purchase of a new head/cab/pedalboard/boss tuner and chorus haha. I still haven't spent what I made selling my rack, it will just seem like my wallet is dented when all the boxes show up this week :).

Re: Pedal recommendations...

Oh yeah, I forgot the modded DS-1 I just bought tonight... I need to slow down I suppose ;)

Re: Pedal recommendations...

Hey everyone's gotta have at least one binge to build a good rig in their life. ;)

WOW this one hit home...

I had a Bad Horsie I and did not like the tonality of it very much at all. It seemed real vocal but in a way that made it sound very annoying and... i dunno. It just didn't have that smooth WHOOAAAOOWW sound i love. The BH was more like WHAAIIIIIIAAAHH. :laugh2:

Listen to Steve Vai's wah work vs. Joe Satriani's (535Q) and you'll get what i mean.

I DID like the tremonti a lot. eally reminded me of a high-power crybaby with a modern twist to it. None of that annoying BH vibe. I'd give it a shot!

Re: Pedal recommendations...

Excellent point, and since I got all this cool stuff and still made some money, I'm very happy :).

I tried a Bad Horsie once a few years ago, and it honestly didn't seem to do very much, it was very subtle (maybe it was busted haha). I'll have to keep an eye out and try the Tremonti wah sometime.
