Pedal Reverb. Boss RV-5? Digitech RP-? Or?

It seems that reverb pedals are getting better these days. I've heard demos of Boss RP-5 and Digitech RP-7. Both sound pretty cool.

I like spring verb and plate verb. If a pedal can do those 2 ok then the rest is cake for that price. Any insight?

Verbzilla gets a lot of love on this forum.

I use the line 6 M13, and I love the reverb sounds in that unit. They're all pulled from the verbzilla ;).

Re: Pedal Reverb. Boss RV-5? Digitech RP-? Or?

OK thanks for suggestions guys. Has anyone compared the verbzilla to the new Boss RV-5, Digitech RV-7 or spring reverb? Also, are those little knobs ok for a bit of abuse? One more thing, I have not seen any info on the type of bypass that this pedal uses. Is it true, or buffered?

Re: Pedal Reverb. Boss RV-5? Digitech RP-? Or?

I'm a fan of the Verbzilla too, but I'd give the RV-7 serious consideration if I were shopping for one today.

Re: Pedal Reverb. Boss RV-5? Digitech RP-? Or?

I'm a Verbzilla user and it's a killer little pedal for good verb sounds. I'd like to give the RV-7 a shot though.

Verbzilla or EHX hands down

The Verbzilla is a bit more versatile overall and has a great plate and vintage spring sound as well as a range of others. Darn good for the money

The Holier Grail I really dig as well. Its just a classic spring sound. Not quite as versatile but what it does it does really good. Just sounds "right"

^^^ IIRC I bought my Verbzilla from you. ;)

Re: Pedal Reverb. Boss RV-5? Digitech RP-? Or?

the verbzilla's octo mode is worth the admission price alone.

Re: Pedal Reverb. Boss RV-5? Digitech RP-? Or?

The verbzilla is a monster. Totally check it out. I personally have a EHX Holy Grail Plus, but it's a question of taste. Check both out, and their variations.

I haven't compared them.

OTOH, even Lew is fond of the Verbzilla, and he is an avowed analog snob. It was actually his review of it that got me to buy one.

Re: Pedal Reverb. Boss RV-5? Digitech RP-? Or?

The Verbzilla is very nice for the weirdo sounds too, but for a cheaper reverb, the digitech digiverb sounds better than the boss.

Re: Pedal Reverb. Boss RV-5? Digitech RP-? Or?

The new Boss and new Digitech pedals are normally about the same price, around $150 new. I can buy the Digitech for $150 total, with power supply.

It looks like the Verbzilla, the Boss and the Digitech are pretty competitive with each other. I'm not looking for special effects, but looking for a quality reverb sound with true bypass and the pedal needs to be heavy duty. So far, the Digitech/Hardwire is looking pretty good. That "Lexicon" sound has definite coolness :naughty: and the unit appears to be built like a tank.
