Pedal Tuner Recommendation

I'd like to get a pedal tuner and I'm leaning towards a strobe style tuner, or the Polytune. What do you guys recommend? I pretty much play mainly at home or in other inside and well-lit environments.

The three I'm most interested in are:

Turbo Tuner ST-200
Polytune
Planet Waves Tru-Strobe

The Polytune seems to be the "sexiest" but also I've seen kind of mixed reviews online. On the other hand, the Turbo Tuner seems to be more "basic" (in some respects) but also the most accurate and the most expensive (not by much though). The Tru-Strobe I mainly just put in there because it's cheaper than the other two. :)

What would you recommend?

Re: Pedal Tuner Recommendation

The LEDs on the Polytune blow

Trust me when I tell you go Turbo Tuner ST-200 or Korg Pitchblack.

Don't even waste your time with the others.

Re: Pedal Tuner Recommendation

Common suggestions are Polytune, Turbo Tuner, Pitchblack and the more expensive Pitchblack, also the old school Boss tuner.

But if it was up to me, I'd go with the GFS one. Just because it seems accurate enough for playing and it's cheaper.

Re: Pedal Tuner Recommendation

What is it about the LEDs that blows? Are they hard to read indoors or in direct sunlight or something?

Too small, and hard to read in any situation to me. If the tuner had better lighting, I would have kept it.

I took mine back and went with the PB.

Re: Pedal Tuner Recommendation

I am still in love with my Korg DT-10.

Built like a tank and rock solid. I use that box every day, and not one sec of trouble.

Re: Pedal Tuner Recommendation

I have had the TU-2, the Pitchblack, and now I'm getting the Turbo Tuner. It seems (objectively) to be superior to all other tuners out there. +/- 0.02 cent (versus 1 cent from the PB), relatively cheap (for what you get)... It's the quality of Peterson in a handy stomp box format (perhaps Peterson has got a stomp box? Haven't checked, actually).

Re: Pedal Tuner Recommendation

I have my tuner first or second in my chain, and actually prefer my tuner pedal to have a buffer... not true bypass... to help with signal strength. For me, the Korg DT-10 has always worked great. But I have zero experience with anything else, so my knowledge is limited.

BTW, does anyone make a strobe tuner that has a buffer?

D*** you! I read up on the Turbo Tuner (which is kind of a stupid name, by the way), and now I want one. (I liked the original Strobostomp, but mine was eaten by wolves.)

+ a million.

I googled it and had to trawl through a load of pages of **** about tuning up turbo kits for cars.

I don't give a **** about cars.

Re: Pedal Tuner Recommendation

All I want is a machine that will say, "Hey, you tone-deaf idiot! Turn the key the other way! No, the other way!!"

Re: Pedal Tuner Recommendation

I don't know, you can't go wrong with the Boss TU-2. Well, I guess it's the TU-3 now. I've had one for over 10 years and it's been on stage, at home, in the studio - pretty much anywhere I've played and never failed me.
