Pedalboard Update! (Nearing Completion)

I spent most of last year beefing up my pedal board. So far I am pretty happy with what I have come up with.

Here is a cellphone pic of the work in progress.
A friend of mine is building the actual board. It's a little bit bigger than I expected but it's free labor so I am not complaining. I just have to resist the urge to try and fill up whatever extra space there is.

On the board I have:

Boss TU-2
Morley Little Alligator Volume
Dunlop CryBaby Classic
MXR Dynacomp
Fulltone Fulldrive 2
MXR Classic Distortion
MI Audio Crunchbox
MXR 10 band EQ
Line 6 MM4
Boss DD-20

and finally Reverb/Tremolo switch for my amp.

Pedals are powered by a Dunlop PowerBrick.

The pedals as listed are the signal path. Any thoughts?

I'm very happy with the tone I am getting. Plenty of dirt on the floor so I can cover a lot of ground as far as that goes.

The MM4 is a great swiss army knife pedal. It may not do everything the best but it does more than enough for me.

I'm fairly confident that this will be the general structure of my board going forward. Pieces may change periodically but overall this is it.
One day in the future the MM4 may get swapped for individual mod effects but that isn't a necessity.

My apologies for the crappy cellphone pic. More to come once the board is painted and wired up.

Nice board, may I suggest swapping out the lil alligator for an Ernie Ball Volume Pedal Jr. It works so much better than the Morley. I owned both.

I do hope to get the EB or the new Dunlop volume pedal at some point in the future. I picked the Morley up for $20 not very long ago. I really wanted a volume pedal and this one popped up just cheap enough to get it with some fun money I had.

I've put myself on a hiatus from gear purchases with the exception of a few pieces I really want. But even then I will only grab those if I find them at very specific price points.

Great stuff, man. Looks awesome. I've been stalking Ebay night and day for an MM4 at a decent price for the last while. A couple of months ago, I saw them every week selling for around £70-£80 but I didn't have any money at the time. Now they've just all disappeared for some reason. I'd love to get my hands on one of those Fulldrives too.

Anyway, congrats on the sweet board. :beerchug:

It's great. If you don't need dead on recreations but just to get in the ballpark it is a great deal. I found one on Craigslist (not sure if that's an option for you) and had it shipped to me. Took a bit of a risk I guess but I got it for a a great price.

I love that Fulldrive. If I had to I could strip my board down to the Fulldrive and a delay pedal and still be perfectly happy.

A few of the MM4's effects are pretty spot on though.

The Chorus's are all great.

Phaser's and Flanges will get you in the ball park.

Vibrato/tremolo's are good.

Yeah, I don't really use a lot of modulation (though that could have something to do with not owning any...) and I'm a lot pickier about my delay and reverb sounds. I'll probably use it maybe 30% of the time for adding little subtle effects to clean tones and the rest of the time as a noisemaker to indulge my inner shoegazer. I don't care in the least about recreating any particular units. I can't wait to find one.

I just got done jamming for nearly two hours with your old Rat, by the way. It's a killer. :beerchug:

I'm a lot like you in that sense. I can't keep my mod effects on at all times. I like to add ambience at times but overall I like my cleans to be clean.

Btw... I think you have me confused. Pretty sure you got that Rat from someone else.

I migt have. I bought it from Andrew Lamprecht but I believe it came to him from you, via BungalowBill and KJrocks?

Re: Pedalboard Update! (Nearing Completion)

Nope. Never owned a Rat. Hmm.....

Huh. Guess there's no arguing with that. I guess I have got you mixed up with someone else then. My apologies, sir! Now, go get yourself a Rat. :friday:

Really nice stuff! I especially like the FDII/Crunchbox combo. Now what are you gonna use to wire em up?

And you SAY that you're gonna leave it alone....MUHAHAH :firedevil:haha:

I love it!

The FD2 is such a great boost pedal. And the Crunchbox is everything it was advertised to be. My only complaint is it seems like like singlecoils better than humbuckers. I love driving the CB with the FD. Over the top, screaming lead tones...

Now what are you gonna use to wire em up?

That right there is one of my weak links. I'm using an assortment of cables. Fender, Planet Waves, no name bargain bin patch cables and some homemade ones.

It's on the agenda to get good quality patch cables but it isn't going to happen soon. I've got to set some money back and get it done... and try not buy any more pedals once I have it.
