Pedalboards

Re: Pedalboards

Guess I'm poor, but I priced separate pedals versus a multieffects, and got a Boss ME-50 instead. It can go with 6 AA batteries or power adapter. Just my two cents...:raincloud

Re: Pedalboards

I personally decided to make my own. The cost of getting say an NYC pedalboard and then shipping to Canada made this a much easier decision. I liked how the NYC pedalboards were designed so I copied them in a way. Underneath the riser I have a power bar with my Boss and MXR power adaptors attached to it. The Boss goes to the tuner and then most of the other pedals are daisy chained off of that. The EQ is 18 volt so it has its own power adaptor. I made a complete case so there is also a top that latches on so I can easily carry it. It cost me about a little over $125USD for supplies and took the majority of a Saturday to build and paint. I chose industrial strength velcro to attach the pedals and it works great. Here's a pic:

Nice board, Lee Bob! That turned out great. Does it colapse, then latch shut, or is there another part that's the lid?

Re: Pedalboards

i use a visual sound 1-spot to power 5 devices on my board and it sounds great with no noise in all of the gigs ive played. tuner, tube screamer, compressor, chorus, and line6 DL4. The board itself is a 20x12 piece of plywood coated with truck bed liner paint (I made it) in one of those very nicely padded Rok Sak Gizmo bages..awesome bags. I dont take it out of the bag for gigs, just unzip the lid, and open, and plug in.

GJ, there's another part that is hte lid and latches on. It has the handle. I then just coil up the cables coming from the board. It's soooo nice for set up and tear down.

Re: Pedalboards

Late to the discussion but I'd suggest a RockOn Pedalboard. Made great but lightweight and it comes with a gigbag for $90-100 depending on size. I have another board with a flight case but the thing is way to F'n heavy to make me want to use it.

I've taken to using mine without taking it out of the bag--just unzip and go.

Re: Pedalboards

What are you guys doing to power pedals that aren't compatible with the standard 9V adapter? (EHx, Univibe, even Line 6 Tonecore pedals that are noisy on a daisy chain) Have you found a power strip that is spaced far enough apart for the wall warts?

Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2, my friend. It's the only way to go.

Re: Pedalboards

The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power requires two outputs in series to achieve 18V. That means four of the outputs would be taken up for my POG and Uni-Vibe... Two Pedal Powers would be stupid expensive, but one would be nice for the 9V pedals, maybe.

Re: Pedalboards

Of the two pedals requiring 18V, you can plug one directly into the courtesy outlet the PP2 provides. You could just eat the other pedal. :)

Re: Pedalboards

I decided to go with the NYC pedalboard and voodoo labs pedal power. I've got a pedal power on the way that I bought used for $120 and am ordering the pedal board today. Now I need to sell some stuff to pay for it.

Re: Pedalboards

Good choice...I have/had (still for sale) an MPS Pedalpad and just got an NYC Pedalhead. I like the Pedalhead better. It is a lot lighter and I can fit more stuff in there. The MKS was much ballsier but weighed almost as much as my amp! I also didn't like having to move the velcro strips every time I changed my setup (all the time with me) and I didn't like having my wah so high and angled. I'm using a Onespot to power my stuff for now, but I'm all 9v at the moment. Not sure what I'll do if I pick up something that needs some more voltage...
